Vehicle Body Kit Materials

body kits are not, unsurprisingly, all made from the same material and the different materials gave produce diverse and dissimilar results to the overall finish of your car body kit. There are three types of materials that are the most popular when it comes to car body kits; fiberglass, polyurethane and carbon fiber.

Fiberglass is the most commonly used material out of these three and is found in most body kits. Why? Well for a start it is somewhat cheaper than polyurethane and carbon fiber and it is also lighter; something that is important went considering adding a body kit to your car as you don’t want to add any unnecessary weight to your vehicle. It is worth noting that even though fiberglass is cheaper and lighter than other materials it also cracks much easier during impact.

Polyurethane is not as common as fiberglass but can offer a much better alternative. Urethane is much stronger than fiberglass so will not be as heavily damaged in a crash; it also has the added advantage being slightly easier to install.  The Honda Civic G5 is a great example of a quality urethane based car body kit that is supplied by Customautotrim.com. The last option, carbon fiber is not widely used for the sole reason that it is a relatively new material so expenses are huge – indeed it is the same material that planes are made from.
